The Merits of Great Conversation in a World of Materialism, Greed, and Callowness

"Friends listen to each other!" Bruce Willis' character says to his gun-bearing son Joseph in the 2000 film Unbreakable. "And they don't shoot each other, do they Audrey?"
"N-... No shooting friends, Joseph...," Audrey, Dunn's wife, replies.

To comment on the above exchange in an effort to prove my thesis for this essay - the title - would be unnecessary. Great conversations such as the one above save the lives of parents whose kids threaten to shoot them.
